Cokesbury Disaster Preparedness Committee has selected a Primary Rally Point for evacuees to reunite, and land-line telephone numbers to use in contacting displaced people there, once phone services are restored. The locations were picked for a variety of factors, including compass heading, distance, and accessibility by back roads, and nearness to a major city. The PRIMARY rally point will be used in any evacuation emergency unless the Command Post makes a decision to designate the Alternate rally point on the basis of the particular crisis threat. The Family Tree system will be employed to spread word of such a decision to congregants.<\/p>\n

The rally point at Marshall UMC does not offer any shelter or housing services. It is simply a pre-designated meeting place, where evacuees from Cokesbury UMC may reunite. Depending upon the extent of the crisis, commercial overnight accommodations or public relief shelters may be functioning in the city of Front Royal, approximately 20 miles away to the west.<\/p>\n
