Songs
Christ Is the World’s Light (vs. 1,2) – UMH 188
Christ is the world’s light, Christ and none other;
born in our darkness, he became our brother.
If we have seen him, we have seen the Father: Glory to God on high!
Christ is the world’s peace, Christ and none other,
no one can serve him and despise another.
Who else unites us, one in God the Father: Glory to God on high!
Fairest Lord Jesus (vs. 1, 4) – UMH 189
Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature,
O thou of God and man the Son,
thee will I cherish, thee will I honor,
thou, my soul’s glory, joy, and crown.
Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise adoration,
now and forevermore be thine.
Prayer:
God of Life and Light, we give thanks for your provision of all that is needed. We praise you for your gracious mercy in sending your Son Jesus Christ into the world to show us who you are and who we are to be with you. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon as we gather to hear you speak to us in worship today. May our eyes be open to see you working among us. May our ears hear your message for us this day. May hearts be open to traveling the path you are leading us on. Amen

Scripture Reading – Isaiah 9:1-6
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness—on them light has shined. You have multiplied the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as people exult when dividing plunder. For the yoke of their burden, and the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor; you have broken as on the day of Midian. For all the boots of the trampling warriors and all the garments rolled in blood shall be burned as fuel for the fire. For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of peace.
L: For the Word of God in scripture; for the Word of God within us and for the Word of God among us we say:
All: Thanks be to God.

Song – Jesus, the Light of the World – WAS 3056
See the bright and Morning Star, Jesus, the Light of the World!
He has risen in our hearts, Jesus, the Light of the World!
Refrain Walk in the light, beautiful light;
come where his love and his mercy are bright.
Shine all around us by day and by night,
Jesus, the Light of the World.
He’s the lamp that lights our way, Jesus, the Light of the World!
Step by step and day by day- Jesus, the Light of the World! Refrain
No more darkness, no more night- Jesus, the Light of the World!
He will shine forever bright, Jesus, the Light of the World! Refrain
Benediction May the light of Christ shine forth from your hearts
spreading hope and making space for his grace to flow into the dry
and thirsty land that longs to be revitalized and nourished.
