Call to Worship
L: Out of the depths we cry to you.
All: O Lord, hear my voice.
L: With our whole hearts we want to praise you.
All: O Lord, hear my voice.
L: If you, Lord, should mark our iniquities
All: Who could stand? Who could stand?
L: We will wait for the Lord.
All: My soul waits, and in his word do I hope.

Song – The Lord Is My Strength
51041 Frank Gallio
The Lord is my strength and my song.
And he is become my salvation. He is my God.
And I shall prepare him my heart. And I shall prepare him my heart.
And I shall prepare him my heart.
The Lord, he shall reign, forever and ever. Amen
The Lord, he shall reign, forever and ever. Amen.
And I shall prepare him my heart. And I shall prepare him my heart.
And I shall prepare him my heart.
O Lord, you shall reign, forever and ever. Amen.
O Lord, you shall reign, forever and ever. Amen,
And I shall prepare you my heart. And I shall prepare you my heart.
And I shall prepare you my heart.

(All) God of forgiveness, you showed your servant David the error of his ways, and forgave him for his sins. Have mercy and forgive us. Help us to see how we might live differently to honor you. We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Scripture Reading – Second Samuel 12:1-7a. 9a:
The thing that David had done displeased the Lord, and the Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him, “There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor. The rich man had very many flocks and herds; but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. He brought it up, and it grew up with him and his children; it used to eat of his meager fare, and drink from his cup, and lie in his bosom and it was like a daughter to him. Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was loath to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the wayfarer who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared that for the guest who had come to him.” Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man. He said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die; he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.” Nathan said to David, “You are the man!” “Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight?”

Offering Prayer
Gracious God, you have created all that is for our provision, that we might have all we need and more. You have entrusted us with the responsibilities of caring for your creation and each other. Bless these gifts, that through your grace, there might be enough for all. Bless our lives, that we might be your servants in this time and place, reaching out to those who are suffering, so that your love might be known. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Song – Take My Life, and Let It Be – UMH 399
Frances R. Havergal
Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my will and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is thine own, it shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for thee.
