Welcome
Call to Worship
L: Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who are faithful and hope for God’s steadfast love.
All: Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and shield.
L: Our heart is glad in the Lord, because we trust in God’s holy name.
All: Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
Song – O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing – UMH 57
O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!
Jesus! The name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease;
‘tis music in the sinner’s ears, ‘tis life, and health, and peace.
He breaks the power of canceled sin, he sets the prisoner free;
his blood can make the foulest clean; his blood availed for me.
He speaks and listening to his voice, new life the dead receive;
the mournful, broken hearts rejoice, the humble poor believe.
Prayer – Gracious Lord, you are already in our midst and we don’t need to call you to come near to us. We do need to remind ourselves and each other of your holy and loving presence that heals, comforts, and strengthens. Help us to open our hearts and our minds to acknowledge and receive you as we listen and look for your transforming word among us this day. Amen.

Scripture Reading – Acts 15:35-41
But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, and there, with many others, they taught and proclaimed the word of the Lord. After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Come, let us return and visit the believers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.” Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. But Paul decided not to take with them one who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not accompanied them in the work. The disagreement became so sharp that they parted company; Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus. But Paul chose Silas and set out, the believers commending him to the grace of the Lord. He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
L: For the Word of God in scripture; for the Word of God within us and for the Word of God among us we say:
All: Thanks be to God.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
Refrain
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, leaning on the everlasting
arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
Refrain
What have I to dread, what have I to fear, leaning on the everlasting
arms? I have blessed peace, with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
