Greeting the Lord

Call to Worship:
L: We come, so sure of the way of faith, and the ways of faith.
All: So sure of the way, we do not expect surprises.
L: God of the road, you step into our path and startle us!
All: So sure of the way, we are stopped in our tracks.
L: Surprise us, nudge us, redirect our steps.
All: So sure of the way, Lord, awaken us to new possibilities.

Song: Holy, Holy Holy! Lord God Almighty UMH 64*
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, Holy, Holy TFWS 2007**
Holy, holy, holy, my heart, my heart adores you.
My heart knows how to say to you, you are holy Lord!
Santo, santo, santo. Mi Corazon te adora!
Mi corazon te sabe decir. Santo eres, Dios!
Argentine Folk Song

(All) God of grace and glory, we come before you this morning with thanksgiving and praises on our lips. Today we are in need of an alignment that only you can give. Open our hearts and minds to receive all that you have to offer us so we may be a difference in this world. Transform our souls to grow more into your image that others may see you in us. Accept our brokenness and make us whole again. Reset, restore and direct us. These things we pray in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Listening for the Lord

Scripture Acts 9:1-15
Meanwhile Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest  and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any who belonged to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.  Now as he was going along and approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.  He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”  He asked, “Who are you, Lord?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.  But get up and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”  The men who were traveling with him stood speechless because they heard the voice but saw no one.  Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. For three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank. Now there was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” He answered, “Here I am, Lord.”  The Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul. At this moment he is praying,  and he has seen in a vision [a]  a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”  But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints in Jerusalem;  and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who invoke your name.”  But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before Gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel;
L: The word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.

Song: Spirit of the Living God UMH* 393
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Sharing Joys and Concerns

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For yours in the kingdom and the power and the glory. Amen.

Pastoral Prayer

Song Lead Me, Guide Me **TFWS 2214
Lead me, guide me, along the way, for if you lead me, I cannot stray.
Lord, let me walk each day with thee. Lead me, O Lord, lead me.

Help me tread in the paths of righteousness.
Be my aid when Satan and sin oppress.
I am putting all my trust in thee.
Lead me, O Lord, lead me
I am lost if you take your hand from me,
I am blind without thy Light to see,
Lord, just always let me thy servant be.
Lead me, O Lord, lead me.
