Prayer requests may be emailed to cokesburyumc@gmail.com

Greeting the Lord:
L: Spirit of the Living God, we seek your guidance. We come in need of direction and encouragement, for the life of faith can be challenging.
All: Spirit of the Living God, equip us for faithfulness.
L: Empower us to discern true kingdom values
All: Inspire us to embody the gospel this very day.

Song – Thou Art Worthy – TFWS * 2041:
Thou art worthy, Thou art worthy, Thou art worthy, O Lord,
to receive glory, glory and honor, glory and honor and power.
For Thou has created, hath all things created; thou hast created all things.
And for thy pleasure they are created; thou art worthy, O Lord.
(repeat)
Pauline Michael Mills CCLI #14789

Prayer:
(all) Holy Spirit, you are welcome in this space today and always in our lives. Oftentimes we focus on ourselves rather than on you, but we aspire to be better in our walk with you. Remember and redirect our ways we pray, as we ask for your Spirit to dwell among us, leading each one on our journey. For your blessings we pray. Amen.

Listening for the Lord

Song – Breath on Me, Breath of God – UMH 420:
Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do.
Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will, to do and to endure.
Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine.

Scripture – Galatians 5:24-6:10:
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.  Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another. My friends, if anyone is detected in a transgression, you who have received the Spirit should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness. Take care that you yourselves are not tempted.  Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.  For if those who are nothing think they are something, they deceive themselves.  All must test their own work; then that work, rather than their neighbor’s work, will become a cause for pride.  For all must carry their own loads. Those who are taught the word must share in all good things with their teacher. Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow.  If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit.  So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.  So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.
L: The word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.

Sermon – Pastor Gayle

Responding to the Lord through our offering, prayer, witness and service

Offering
God has blessed us with life guided by the Holy Spirit. Paul told the Galatians that caring for the family of faith and working for the good of all are central to this new life. This message is for us too. You are invited to give generously today to support our family of faith and the work in does for the good of our community and world.

Offering Prayer:
Abundant God, today we commit to giving you all that we are and all that you have provided for us. Please keep us from only following the letter of the law, and instead help us to be led by your Spirit in all things. Receive our tithes and offerings today and give us wisdom so that we may use the to bring you glory. Amen.

Song – We Are Called – TFWS *:
Come! Live in the light! Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord!
We are called to be light for the kingdom,
to live in the freedom of the city of God!
Refrain: We are called to act with justice, we are called to love tenderly,
we are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God!
Come! Open your heart! Show your mercy to all those in fear!
We are called to be hope for the hopeless
so all hatred and blindness will be no more!
Refrain
Sing! Sing a new song! Sing of that great day when all will be one!
God will reign, and we’ll walk with each other
as sisters and brothers united in love!
