Song – Standing on the Promises – UMH 374:
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain: Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior,
standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
standing on the promises of God.

Call to Worship:
L: We gather in this place, taking time apart from the pace of our days.
All: Gentle God, meet us here, and nourish us for the journey.
L: Our minds and live are cluttered, needs and responsibilities overflow.
All: Gentle God, meet us here, and center our hearts in your grace.

Prayer:
(all) Good and gracious God, we enter into your courts with praise and celebration. Enable us to fulfill the purpose that you have created each of us to do. As we spend time in your presence today, touch our hearts, our minds and our souls to respond to your calling on our lives. Move in our very being as never before so we an continue to be a blessing to others. This we pray in your precious name. Amen.

Scripture – Mark 1:32-39:
That evening, at sunset, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons.  And the whole city was gathered around the door.  And he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.  And Simon and his companions hunted for him.  When they found him, they said to him, “Everyone is searching for you.”  He answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.”  And he went throughout Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and casting out demons.

Song – Take My Life and Let It Be – UMH 399:
Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my voice and let me sing, always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at they feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for thee.

Pastoral Prayer

Holy Communion

Invitation to Confession:
When we come into the holy presence of God, our own humanity is laid bare. When we stand in the living presence of truth, our own falsehood is revealed. People of God, let us acknowledge who we are and ask our ever-present God to forgive us.

Prayer of Confession:
All: Renewing God, trusting in your infinite grace, we confess that we need your healing and your forgiveness. For all that is broken in our minds and bodies, we ask your healing. For all that is amiss in our choices and our relationships, we ask your forgiveness. For all that works against life and blessing in our hearts and in this world, we open ourselves to your transforming grace. Heal us, forgive us, and make us new. Amen

The Great Thanksgiving – UMH 9:
P: The Lord be with you
All: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
P: And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
All: Holy, holy, hoy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
P: As we proclaim the mystery of our faith:
All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Song – Since Jesus Came Into My Heart – TFWS 2140:
What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
since Jesus came into my heart!
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought,
since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain: Since Jesus came into my heart, (into my heart)
since Jesus came into my heart,
floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll,
since Jesus came into my heart.
I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure,
since Jesus came into my heart!
And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
since Jesus came into my heart!
