Due to the coronavirus pandemic, regular in-person worship remains canceled until further notice. Drive-in and Lawn services are planned and plans regarding the safe return to in-person worship are being developed.
Please continue your mitigation efforts as the coronavirus Delta variant has gained a foothold and infection rates have risen dramatically in the last few weeks, as it has become the dominant strain in new infections and appears to be about 200% more transmissible than the original strains. This trend is expected to continue, particularly among those not yet fully vaccinated, and over 95% of new COVID cases requiring hospitalization are unvaccinated individuals. Overall, daily new coronavirus cases are up around 65% in the last week, and hospitalizations are up around 25%.

A devotion for today
This is the Day – The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

Worship Services (weather permitting – inclement weather will move worship to online only):
– This Sunday, July 25th, 10am: Drive-In, Lawn, and Online (bring lawn chairs),
– Sunday, August 1st, 10am: Drive-In, Lawn, and Online (bring lawn chairs).
We have begun expanded outdoor worship. Those who wish to do so may bring lawn chairs for the area by the main parking lot under the trees (above the pavilion), and those who wish to remain in their cars may do so. Online worship via Facebook will also be available. Those with lawn chairs please park your car closer to the church or in the Flea Market parking area, to allow those who remain in their cars to park closer to the worship service area,
Planning is currently underway to safely return to in-person worship in the Sanctuary sometime in August. A lot of work must be done before that can happen, and a lot of health related rules must be followed. Stay tuned for more info!

– The idea that carrots boost your eyesight was popularized in WW2 when the British Royal Air Force pushed the idea that their pilots could find enemy fighters so well and enjoyed superior night vision because they ate lots and lots of carrots. While the vitamin A in carrots is good for eye health, the story was a ruse to hide the fact that Britain was using newly developed, and secret, radar technology to track enemy planes,

Spotlight Recipe: Cast Iron Skillet Pizza
by Lodge Cast Iron
Pizza Dough
Buy pre-made or make your own:
Ingredients:
3 cups bread flour, divided,
1 packet (¼ ounces) active dry rapid-rise yeast,
1 teaspoon salt,
1½ teaspoons honey,
1¼ cups lukewarm water,
1 tablespoon olive oil
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, mix ½ cup flour with yeast and salt. Dissolve honey in lukewarm water and add to mixture. Add olive oil,
2. In the bowl of a mixer, or using a wooden spoon, mix for 3 minutes. Mix in remaining flour (dough should be only slightly sticky),
3. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth, approximately 5 minutes,
4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 10 minutes in a warm place,
5. Punch dough down and divide in half. Allow to rise for 10 additional minutes. Punch down and spread one of the halves by hand.
Pizza:
Ingredients:
Pizza dough (see above),
Olive oil,
1/8 cup of cornmeal,
Pizza sauce,
Italian herbs,
Grated cheese,
Desired toppings and spices.
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees F. Hotter will cook the pizza better,
2. Preheat a 10-12″ cast iron skillet on your stove top over medium heat for 5 minutes. Once hot, douse with olive oil and a sprinkle of cornmeal,
3. Spread your dough out to about the size of the bottom of the skillet you are using. Carefully (it’s HOT!) cover the bottom of the skillet from edge to edge for a nice pan pizza,
3. Brush the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian Herbs. Watch for the bubbles that will form in the dough. You will want to start working quickly here or the bottom of the crust may burn,
4. Top with pizza sauce, cheese, and desired toppings.
5. Slide your pizza in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and starting to brown.
