L: God’s grace pours out.
All: The people shout and sing together for joy.

Offering of Praise – Choir

Prayer: Let us pray together Lord, we thank you for gathering us here together to praise you and bless your holy name. Pour out your Holy Spirit on us so that our hearts and minds are open to receive your Word as the scriptures are read and the good news is proclaimed. Amen.

Scripture Reading – First John 4:7-16
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.    Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.    In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.    Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.    No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.    And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world.    God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God.    So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.
L: The Word of God in scripture; for the Word of God within us and for the Word of God among us we say:
All: Thanks be to God.

Hymn – Maker, in Whom We Live – UMH 88
Maker, in whom we live, in whom we are and move,
the glory, power, and praise receive for thy creating love.
Let all the angel throng give thanks to God on high,
while earth repeats the joyful long and echoes to the sky,
Incarnate Deity, let all the ransomed race
render in thanks their lives to thee for thy redeeming grace.
The grace to sinners showed ye heavenly choirs proclaim,
and cry, “Salvation to our God, salvation to the Lamb.”
Spirit of Holiness, let all thy saints adore
thy sacred energy, and bless thine heart-renewing power.
Not angel tongues can tell thy love’s ecstatic height,
the glorious joy unspeakable, the beatific sight.
Eternal, Triune God, let all the hosts above,
let all on earth below record and dwell upon thy love.
When heaven and earth are fled before they glorious face,
sing all the saints they love hath made thine everlasting praise.
