Greeting – Greet each other in the name of the Lord. Buenes Dias. Bienvenidos.

Call to worship:
L: Give thanks to the Lord because he is good. His faithful love lasts forever!
All: That’s what those who are redeemed say, the ones God has gathered from the north, south, east and west.
L: They were hungry and thirsty, wandering and lost, sitting in darkness and gloom, suffering in chains. They cried out to the Lord in their distress. God delivered them from desperate circumstances, satisfied their thirst, filled them up with good things, brought them out of darkness and shattered their chains.
All: Let us thank the Lord for his faithful love and his wondrous works for all people. Let us exalt the Lord and declare what God has done in songs of joy!

Song I know Whom I Have Believed UMH 714
I know not why God’s wondrous grace to me he hath made known,
nor why, unworthy, Christ in love redeemed me for his own.
But I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able
to keep that which I’ve committed unto him against that day.
I know not how this saving faith to me he did impart,
nor how believing in his word wrought peace within my heart.
But I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able
to keep that which I’ve committed unto him against that day.

Almighty God, who has knit us together in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord: Grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in all holy living, that we may come to those inexpressible joys which you have prepared for those who sincerely love you. Prepare us to hear your word and receive it with a glad heart and may the power of the Holy Spirit enable us to put your word into action. Amen.

Scripture Hebrews 12:1-13
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,  2  looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. 3  Consider him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners, so that you may not grow weary or lose heart.  4  In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.  5  And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as children— “My child, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, or lose heart when you are punished by him; 6  for the Lord disciplines those whom he loves, and chastises every child whom he accepts.” 7  Endure trials for the sake of discipline. God is treating you as children; for what child is there whom a parent does not discipline?  8  If you do not have that discipline in which all children share, then you are illegitimate and not his children.  9  Moreover, we had human parents to discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not be even more willing to be subject to the Father of spirits and live?  10  For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share his holiness.  11  Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 12  Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,  13  and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.
L: The word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God!

Song Open Our Eyes TFWS 2086
Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus, to reach out and touch him, and say that we love him.
Open our eyes ears, Lord, and help us to listen. Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus.

Sermon Rev. Gayle Porias

Apostles Creed UMH 882
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

Time of Remembrance

We give you thanks, our God and Father, for all who have died in the faith of Christ—for the memory of their words and deeds and all they accomplished in their time, for the joyful hope of reunion with them in the world to come, and for our communion with them now; in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

L: After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and people and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying:
All: Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.
L: Let us give thanks for these brothers and sisters in Christ to whom God has granted rest from their labors.

Reading of Names

Almighty God, we give you thank for these your servants whom we remember today. Grant us grace to follow them as they followed Christ. Bring us, with them, to those things no eye has seen, nor ear heard, which you have prepared for those who love you.
All: Give us faith to look beyond touch and sight, and seeing that we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, enable us to run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Bring us at last to your eternal peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Song When We All Get to Heaven UMH 701
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus; sing his mercy and his grace.
In the mansions bright and blessed he’ll prepare for us a place.
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!
Let us then be true and faithful, trusting, serving every day;
just one glimpse of him in glory will the toils of life repay.
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!

Prayer of dedication, confession and Intercession

The Lord’s Supper

Pastor: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts
All: We lift them up to the Lord
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
P: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth. And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join in their unending hymn:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
P: Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ. Your Spirit anointed him to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, and to announce that the time had come when you would save your people. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ate with sinners. By the baptism of his suffering, death and resurrection you have birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.

Words of Institution:
On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took break, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said: Take, eat, this is my body which is give for you. Do this in remembrance of me. When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Drink from this, all of you, this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith:
All: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them to be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory, and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and forever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Sharing the Bread and Cup:
All are invited and are welcome to the Lord’s Table by our host Jesus Christ to receive spiritual food and drink to nourish your soul, refresh and strengthen your spirit.

Song Abide with Me UMH 700
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide, the darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
I need thy presence every passing hour. What but thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Benediction – May God, who has given us, in the lives of his saints, patterns of holy living and victorious dying, strengthen your faith and devotion and enable you to bear witness to the truth against all adversity.
