In-Person Worship Canceled – 3/22 & 3/29

To the people of Cokesbury,

We’ve received word from the Bishop and the Conference about the coming weeks in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In person worship services are cancelled for Sunday March 22, AND Sunday March 29.

Recent guidelines from the CDC are calling for no gatherings of more than 10 people for at least the next 15 days which obviously covers the church but is also relevant for our day to day interactions.

We will have live stream services for both of the upcoming canceled Sundays which will be available again through the church Facebook page:

In the coming days (and weeks) I will be sending out occasional devotionals from the church email in addition to hosting times on Facebook Live for videos about prayer and reflections on scripture. I will send out announcements about when those are happening should any of you be interested in watching them.

Knowing that we will not be gathering together for at least three weeks, I would be remiss not to encourage those of you who financially support the church to continue to do so through the mail or through online giving

. Even though the church is effectively closed, we still have bills to pay and ministries to support locally and across the world. To those of you who have already sent in your offering I would like to express my profound gratitude while encouraging others to do the same. We can only do the work of the church because of the generosity we receive through tithes and offerings.

I have been praying daily for our church, for our community, and for our world. Please join me in lifting up your prayers at this strange and difficult time, and remember that God is with us, even in this.
