Call to Worship:
L: Jesus calls us through the storm.
All: “Don’t be afraid!”
L: God calls to us amid the chaos.
All: “Be still!”
L: The Holy Spirit whispers in the stillness.
All: “I will lead you.”
L: In trust and with faith let us come before God with all that we are and all that we have.
All: To praise and give thanks to God. All our hope is in you Lord.
Song – Love Lifted Me – Worship and Song 3101
James Rowe and Howard E. Smith.
I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
but the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
from the waters lifted me; now safe am I.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help.
Love lifted me. Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help. Love lifted me!
Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely save;
he will lift you by his love out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea, billows his will obey;
he your Savior wants to be- be saved today.
God of salvation, you rescued the Israelites at the edge of the Red Sea. Rescue us from the things of this world that threaten our lives and livelihoods, so that we might forever place our trust in you. We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Scripture Reading – Exodus 14:5-7, 10-14:
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the minds of Pharaoh and his officials were changed toward the people, and they said, “What have we done, letting Israel leave our service?” So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him; he took six hundred elite chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them. As Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked back, and there were the Egyptians advancing on them. In great fear the Israelites cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us, bringing us out of Egypt? Is this not the very thing we told you in Egypt, ‘Let us alone so that we can serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” But Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid, stand firm, and see the deliverance that the Lord will accomplish for you today, for the Egyptians whom you see today you shall never see again. The Lord Will fight for you and you have only to keep still.
